CEO of PBS Says Get Some Hippie
Have you already heard about Hippie and all the great musicians on his show but can't see the show on your local PBS station? That's just wrong. And there's no need for it.
All you (and your friends) have to do is contact your local PBS station manager to request that they put the show on the air. It's easy and will only take five minutes or less of your time.
One of Hippie's biggest fans is Ms. Paula Kerger, the CEO and President of PBS. Here's a little snippet of Hippie reading a letter of support Paula sent him on the first day of this year's Jammin at Hippie Jack's Memorial Day Festival.
Paula first met Hippie when she paid a visit to tiny little WCTE in Cookeville, TN in February. Then, at the recent Annual Meeting of all the Public Television stations, she gave a big positive shout out to Hippie Jack and the little Cookeville, TN station that first aired his show.
Paula cited Hippie's show as a prime example of the kind of quality arts programming that all PBS stations should be eager to help create and put on the air.
We know you agree, and we encourage you to contact your local PBS station and get you some Hippie. Just follow the easy steps listed below. (And don't forget to become a friend of Hippie's facebook page and sign up for his regular email announcements.)
- Send letters and emails to the Program Director and the General Manager. Find suggested email or letter copy below. (Phone calls are fine, but letters and emails are better. They tend to get copied and printed out and carried to meetings and put on desks and forwarded to other folks on staff.) Click here to find the contact info for your local PBS station.
- Encourage your friends, family and co-workers to do the same.
- Find the station’s contact information by going directly to your station’s website. Google it, or find your local station info by clicking here.

To really get their attention, we suggest that you use something like the words below when you write to the Program Director and General Manager to tell them why you like the show:
Dear Mr./Ms. ____________:
I love the PBS Americana music series Jammin at Hippie Jack's, and I strongly suggest that you air it locally. It's already showing on over 120 other PBS affiliate stations nationwide and is available through the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) now. Check it out at www.myhippiejack.com.
Thanks!
