Goose Creek Symphony
"Goose Creek Symphony are rock & rollers who play a very faithful brand of country music, all the while layering rhythms and harmonies along the same lines as Buffalo Springfield and the Grateful Dead . . . Their marriage of earthy instrumentation and easygoing vibes have been able to give the group a longevity."
Webb Wilder and the Beatnecks
There are roots rockers, and then there's Webb Wilder. Hardly a purist, he has described the music he and his band, The Beatnecks, make as “Rock for Roots fans and Roots for Rock fans.” In essence: Rock and Roll. The self-proclaimed “Last Of The Full Grown Men" hasn’t limited his creativity to the music business. There’s the picture business. His critically acclaimed indie films made him a cult hero and led to a major motion picture (Peter Bogdonavich’s “The Thing Called Love,” Paramount).
The New Familiars
Playing honest, folk-infused rock and roll, The New Familiars combine an amazing passion for harmony and collaborative songwriting with multi-instrumental talent. Drawing raucous club crowds from Boston to Tuscaloosa while shining brightly on the festival circuit, they’ve build a reputation for their live, energetic, and ever-evolving performances.
RB Morris w/Hector Qirko
Malcolm Holcombe
Malcolm Holcombe is "not quite country, somewhere beyond folk, his music is a kind of blues in motion, mapping backwoods corners of the heart." - David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine. Born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, Malcolm is being recognized by the contemporary U.S and European folk/americana community as a performer of national stature and an uncommonly unique guitarist/vocalist about whom Rolling Stone Magazine says, "Haunted country, acoustic blues and rugged folk all meet [here]...."
The Black Lillies
The Black Lillies have come to the forefront of the Americana scene in little more than a year. Founded by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Cruz Contreras, co-founder of Robinella and the CCstringband, The Black Lillies have created their own unique brand of country, roots, rock and blues via Appalachia.
Town Mountain
Town Mountain is a band that occupies the common ground between traditional bluegrass, outlaw country, and pure old time mountain music. A group that harnesses the frantic energy of the modern punk string band, yet still remains respectfully rooted in the tradition of Bill Monroe.
The Naughty Knots
The Naughty Knots organically formed from the red clay dirt of Eastern Tennessee! From the living room to the stage, the Naughty Knots--comprised of Sarah Pirkle of Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle and the Maid Rite String Band, Trisha Gene Brady of herself, and Griffin Cavender of Cherohala--are a sassy new group of native East Tennessee girls hell-bent on singin' your socks off!
Jay Clark
Jay Clark has his roots well grounded in the East Tennessee region. Originally from Winchester, TN, and currently residing in Rockford, TN, Jay considers Knoxville and the surrounding mountains his adopted home. He has released three albums (I'm confused, Progress and Pen to Paper) and tours the Southeast performing 50-80 shows per year.
Dehlia Low
Dehlia Low, emerging out of Asheville, North Carolina's roots renaissance, echoes the sounds of early country with a strong bluegrass flavor, crafting a fresh originality that feels like home. Since August of 2007, the group has quickly developed a devoted fan base with the help of their self-titled EP, receiving national and international reviews and radio play.
Jimmy Davis
Jimmy Davis is a versatile singer-songwriter, named "Premier Male Vocalist" five times by the Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and he knows no boundaries when it comes to musical styles. Influences range from The Beatles to the Eagles, Johnny Cash and Gram Parsons to Jackson Browne.
Blue Mother Tupelo
Blue Mother Tupelo (Ricky and Micol Davis), shortly after marrying in 1994, began their musical life together at an open mic night at Sassy Ann's in Knoxville, which proved to be the beginning of something very special. After releasing their debut album, My Side Of The Road, in 1997, they moved to Nashville in 1998 and readied themselves for 2001's Delta Low ~ Mountain High.
Doug and Telisha Williams
Doug and Telisha Williams hail from Martinsville, Virginia. The songs for their latest record, Ghost of the Knoxville Girl, weren’t written by people who like to imagine what it’s like “out there.” Instead, they came from stories told across kitchen tables or between friends after a couple of pitchers at the Ten Pin.
Little Johnny Kantreed
Winner of the MCBS Bluesey Award for Best Other Blues Instrumentalist of the Year, Little Johnny Kantreed (LJK) was also nominated for Acoustic Blues Act of the Year, and "Acoustic Alley Blues" for Blues CD of the Year. Downhome acoustic folk blues.
Alan Darveaux
Alan Darveaux grew up on Long Island Sound. His interest in acoustic music started in high school and led to a college group known as the "Newcomers." The dulcimer caught his eyes and ears while visiting friends at Berea College in KY back in 1967. He left Berea with all the information, books and records he could find on the dulcimer.
Greg Horne
Greg Horne has been based in Knoxville, Tennessee since 1994. He has always kept one foot in rock and roll, and one foot in traditional folk music. Any given week will see him sawing away on old-time fiddle tunes at a dance or jam session, blasting rootsy original rock and roll at a bar with his band, or fingerpicking his own folk and blues songs at a coffeehouse.
Warren Gently
"I remember when dirt was a new thing."
--Warren Gently
Flea Market Hustlers
The Flea Market Hustlers have been on a three year quest for music, love, and the perfect taco. The Hustlers have continued to evolve their unique sound and repertoire while playing festivals all over the Southeast.
